hello, world

The mathematical constant π (pi) is an irrational real number, approximately equal to 3.14159, which is the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter in Euclidean geometry, and has many uses in mathematics, physics, and engineering.

Lets meet on Monday!

Two strangers arranging the meeting:

- Lets meet on Monday at 8 a.m. near the "Colture University" station. How will you look like?
- Bad...

Brest

Today I had a small trip to Brest (a city on the border of Belarus and Poland). 4 hours by train to get there 4 hours in the city and 4 hours to get back home. I hadn't a chance to see a citycenetre or other beutiful places. But on my road back to the train station I took some photos. Quite interesting views, huh?! :-)

To whom it may concern

I love you!/ Я люблю тебя! / Ya lublu tebya!

Here is a small lesson of Russian language for you guys. Our topic is how to say “I love you” on Russian. The most popular phrase, after “Hello”, you ask me about. We don’t need too much, huh? ;-)

Look at this table. As you all know we use Cyrillic alphabet, and your favorite phrase in fact looks like that Я люблю тебя! but we will transform it to Latin for simplicity.

1 2 3
English I love you
Russian Cyrillic Я люблю тебя
Latin Ya lublu tebya
  1. Ya (Я)

I think there is no sound for it in English. But you all probably know how to say “yes” on German – “ja”. So our “ya” sounds pretty the same.

  1. Lublu (Люблю)

Here you will not have problems with sounds “l” and “b”, but what you need to learn is how to pronounce “u” (russian ю). English word “you” sounds very close to russain ю. So my suggestion – try to pronounce like “lyoublyou :-).

  1. Tebya (Тебя)

T – no problems, b – no problems, ya – we already know it. So in this part we have to learn how to pronounce “e”. Now lay back to your chair and say “Oh Yeah!”. So this “ye” from the word yeah, probably will sound like “e” we need.

Now let’s combine it together: Ya lublu tebya or Ja lyoublyou tyebja. Ok. And as I expect you still didn’t get it…;-) Here is an audio (ya_lublu_tebya.mp3, 52Kb), so listen to it several times and try to repeat.

Ready?! Now go out, find a Russian girl/boy and practice! ;-)
